Finglandrigg Wood Reserve

The National Nature Reserve of Finglandrigg Wood is situated between Carlisle and Kirkbride on the B5307. The Reserve, part of the Solway Plain, is accessed from the Havermans lay-by on the Kirkbride Road. There is a Natural England Sign to the left of the lay-by indicating the available waymarked trails. The Little Bampton Common Trail is depicted by a red line on the signage, the Derek Memorial Walk is signed with a blue line.

The initial pathway is a farm access track leading towards the woodland area. The remainder of the trail is mainly firm ground.

Both trails pass the memorial to Derek Ratcliffe.

There are boardwalks in places passing over wet ground.
