Access at Entrance

The visitors entrance is accessed directly from the main car parking area through a wide single gate with level access. The Main Gates are open during the Gardens’ special events.

Facilities

Accessible toilet facilities are available on site. The toilets are located in the courtyard area at the entrance to the rear of the visitors centre.

The Visitors Centre is located immediately to the left when entering the Gardens. Admission tickets should be purchased at the reception desk in the centre. The Gardens have a small, dedicated staff, ably assisted by volunteers. When the visitors centre is not staffed, please enquire at the office situated to the right on entering the grounds. Both locations are well signposted.

There is a tea room with seating area incorporated within the visitors centre. A range of hot and cold drinks and snacks are available at most times.

The grounds are bursting with a multitude of flora and fauna.

There is a courtyard area at the entrance around which the visitors centre, toilets and offices are situated. There are tables and chairs in the courtyard.

There are bench seats at regular intervals throughout the grounds.

One of the centrepieces of the Gardens is the Maze. The Maze may not be suitable for all visitors as it is constructed of relatively narrow grass pathways.

The Gardens are an ever changing scene throughout the year. There are herb gardens and various areas which have an enhanced sensory experience with the various scents.

The Hall around which the grounds are set in has private ownership and is not accessible to the public.

The formal walled Garden is surrounded by a further 22 acres of Parkland. These areas are open to the public although visitors should note that the majority of this area is natural trodden ground with no formally constructed pathways.

Access to all areas

The accessible entrance to the Visitors Centre and toilet block are accessed by a moderate upward incline from the courtyard area.

The pathways that run around the perimeter of the formal walled garden area are as quarried traditional hoggin rolled on a form base. This allows visitors to access the majority of the site. Pathways also bisect the Garden at several points. Some of these connecting pathways are across manicured grass pathways.

Visitors should note that the Summer House and Greenhouse in the Garden can only be accessed up steps to the entrance.
