Transport

There are two bus stops located on Baker Street within the hospital campus. An additional bus stop is located at the entrance of the hospital grounds on the main road. Numerous bus routes serve these bus stops at frequent times and the routes from the bus stops give step free access to the hospital entrances. The bus stops all have shelters with seating available.

Car Park and Drop Off

There is a large accessible Car Park located opposite the Main Entrance which has a sufficient number of accessible bays available. There are additional accessible bays located near each of the Main Entrances and external department buildings. All of these bays are routinely checked to ensure that only blue badge holders are occupying these spaces. Additionally patients can be dropped off directly outside the entrances, however there is a maximum waiting time of 10 minutes. There are also several car parking areas located around the hospital campus which are pay and display and require visitors to display a ticket at all times.

Access at Entrance

The Main Entrance has two sets of double automatic doors that fold open on approach. There is a ramp that leads down from the accessible parking area and a safe crossing point also leads to the main parking area which slopes down to the road. In addition there is another set of double automatic doors, on the left hand side next to the patient transport drop off area, which lead into the Main Entrance lobby.

All of the main hospital entrances have step free access up to them and entry is through automatic doors. The entrances can be accessed from many different areas of the hospital site as clear directional signage provides the route to the different departments. Most of the entrances have weather protection provided or an entrance foyer.

Reception

A reception point is located within each department. The main departments have low accessible counters provided with an induction loop facility installed. Some departments also supply a portable hearing loop which can be taken to treatment and consultation rooms. Near to each reception desk seating is also available. The main entrance lobby has a reception desk and health information area where enquiries can be made regarding all departments.

Facilities

There is a restaurant located on Level A which offers a large selection of food and beverages. Staff will assist in selecting and taking goods to your table if required. There is a large seating area which is open 24 hours a day with additional vending machines located nearby. In the main entrance lobby there is a coffee and sandwich shop with additional shops serving a range of food and confectionery. There is also a florist, Boots and newsagents located in this area.

Each main department has toilet facilities available including accessible toilets and also baby changing facilities. There are additional toilets located in some of the main corridor and lobby areas. There are emergency alarm cords located within the accessible toilets for visitors to use should they require assistance. Each toilet is checked and cleaned on a regular basis.

Access to All Areas

There are lifts and stairs located along the main corridor on all levels which give access to the different floors. Each lobby area has good signage to show the direction of travel to each department and ward.
